Learn More About Paul Addis

Paul Addis is a retired energy company executive and community volunteer who lives in Delaware County.

He and his wife, Kathy, have four adult children (Vickie, Mike, Claire, and Bobby), who are now well-established in their own careers. Paul has more than 30 years of experience managing commodity-trading businesses, restructuring industrial businesses, and building new start-ups that link industrial assets with marketing organizations to boost profitability.

In the mid 1990’s, Paul executed the first electricity trade in the country, which helped start the deregulation of the electricity industry. Throughout his career, Paul has brought innovation and positive strategic change in order to create new businesses and revitalize existing ones. Paul will bring that same drive and focus to the U.S. Senate.

Paul previously served as CEO and Co-Chairman of Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy, a private company that focuses on the trading of natural gas, natural gas liquids and other mid-stream assets. During his tenure, the business was extremely profitable.

From 1997 through 2001, Paul served as Executive Vice President of American Electric Power (AEP), the largest electric utility in the United States. He was responsible for managing AEP’s electric generation portfolio (~38,000 MW) and the mining, transportation, fuel-handling assets, and engineering and construction segments of the company. He developed AEP’s energy trading and marketing operation, which became one of the energy industry’s most profitable. There, Paul had responsibility for approximately 5,000 employees.
